Non-Destructive Testing for Aircraft Component Repair
Non-destructive testing is where most aircraft component repair work begins, because it lets us find defects in a component without damaging or altering it. On turbine engine hardware that matters, since the parts in question are expensive, often difficult to source, and frequently serviceable once the extent of a defect is properly understood.
We perform liquid penetrant inspection, which draws out surface-breaking defects such as cracks and porosity, and magnetic particle inspection, which reveals surface and near-surface flaws in ferrous components. Both are performed in house by trained technicians, and findings are documented so the result is defensible later rather than a verbal opinion. NDT is the step that turns a suspicion into a decision. It tells you whether a component is serviceable, repairable, or genuinely finished, which is the difference between a repair and an unnecessary replacement.
Welding
Welding on aircraft components is a specialised discipline. The materials are demanding, the tolerances are tight, and the consequences of a poor repair are not acceptable. Our welding is performed in house under our FAA Part 145 Repair Station certificate, which keeps the work, the inspection, and the paperwork together.
Keeping welding on site also removes a common source of delay. A component that would otherwise be crated and sent to a third party, then queued in someone else workflow, stays here.
Machining
Our machine shop supports the engine work rather than standing apart from it. When a repair calls for a component to be machined back to specification, that happens on site, measured against the applicable limits, and inspected before it goes back into an engine.
The practical benefit is control of the schedule. Complete in-house machining capability means the timeline of a repair depends on our shop rather than on an outside vendor queue, and it means the people machining the part are the people who understand how it will be used.
Aircraft Component Repair as a Standalone Service
Although this work most often supports our own engine programs, we also take on aircraft component repair as a standalone service, performing NDT, welding, and machining for operators and shops who need a specific capability they do not have in house.
